For some mysterious reason the combination of keys to put the Mac to sleep from the keyboard isn't working anymore.
Why, why???!!!

Reboot the computer and test. No success then reboot into Safe Mode and test. No success then create a new admin user account. Log out of your normal account and log into the test account. Test again. BTW, to be clear the keys are OPTION-COMMAND-ESC all depressed simultaneously and then released once the computer goes to sleep. Don't touch anything thereafter or the machine will immedialely wake up.
Hello Kappy,
Thanks for your fast answer.
As an old Mac user the first step to check what kind of trouble I was facing was to create a new user, and the problem is still there.
By the way, "OPTION-COMMAND-ESC" was always the option to open the "Force Quit Applications" pop up window.
Best wishes, as always,
Federico (aka euskir)

FWIW, Option-Command-Esc is still the command to force quit an app. Option-Command-Media Eject works for me to put the computer to sleep.
So sorry. Not the ESC, but the EJECT button. My apologies for the error. Had the wrong "E" in mind
😁
Kappy, no big deal... Sadly the combination Option-Command-Media Eject isn't working anymore.
Lucky you, not working for me so far.
Make sure "Use f1,F2, etc…" is not checked in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard.
Are you using an Apple keyboard?
Oh yes my friend, an Apple Keyboard.
By the way, I'm not sharing something pretty mysterious in this story, if I restart the Mac, for a while I can use that combination to put it to sleep, but suddenly the issue is back.
Thanks, a pretty complete guide.
Welcome.
