Question: Links not working since iOS 11.2 upgrade on iPhone X

Hey everybody. I am having a problem that I noticed right away as soon as I upgraded to 11.2 and never had the issue before hand. Links in my mail app and safari are broken sometimes. When I open an email that has a link in it and I press the link usually it does nothing. I have to press the link 3-4 times before finally safari or whatever app is to open the link actually opens. Sometimes the link will open the app on the first press but not often. I have tried resetting phone and restoring from my backup and it is still doing it. I downgraded the other day back to 11.1.2 and the problem went away. I then upgraded again to 11.2 and the problem started again. This is very annoying to have to click every link several times to get them to open since the entire workflow of the phone is based around links usually. Anybody else having this problem?

Will it log me into all my apps and save all my settings? Is there a way to restore all my app folders and their locations? With a backup and restore all of this is saved. I believe it’s a bug with 11.2 as it did not happen with 11.1.2. I will give it a try and see if it at least fixes the issue.

The problem did not arise until I upgraded to 11.2 It was the upgrade that caused it so I doubt it’s an issue with my backup unless it’s an incompatibility issue with 11.2 and my stored iCloud data in which case others should have the issue also.

Remove your email account and set it up again

  1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website. Make sure that all of your email is there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than your iOS device.
  2. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords.
  3. Tap the email account that you want to remove.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Add your account again.
