Case Replacement Cost

Hello all, just a quick inquiry as to the cost of replacement for the case (I think this is the name for it. Basically just the aluminum body of the MacBook is what I'm asking) on my 13 inch, mid-2014, Retina MacBook Pro. I use it to run my CNC machine until I get a cheap workshop computer, and even though I take great care of where I place it, dust coverage etc. it still has accumulated some scratches on the bottom and somehow on the top. I think there may be some crap in my laptop sleeve. Anyway, if anyone can give me a ballpark on that cost I would be appreciative.

Apple generally does not reduce its prices for repairs as a Mac gets older. The price to replace the case on an older Mac today, through Apple, will be the same as on the first day it was sold. I expect that number to be heart-stopping.

To make things worse, on more recent Macs, the number of sub-assemblies (field-replaceable units) is being forced down dramatically. For example, you may find the aluminum cover over the screen now includes a complete new screen, and is priced accordingly.

No one here has exact numbers available. If you have an Apple-owned store, your appointment for an evaluation is free, and they will look up those prices for you at your genius bar appointment.
