My iPhone X is self locked

It locked itself. Tried all these instructions but still cannot be unlocked. It's dialing 999 when I press and release the volume up button and also giving the panic alarm when I press and hold. It's a brand new iPhone X and I am disappointed with performance so far. Now after 10 days of purchase it's useless! Can some one help?

To power the phone off you hold down the side button and the volume down button. You should then see the Slide to power off slider. The instructions I gave you earlier were for a force restart. You should be able to see the lock screen by either lifting the phone if you have Raise to Wake activated, or you can tap on it if you don't. From there, if you do not have Face ID active, then you swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen and that should display the passcode screen for you to enter your passcode. If you cannot remember your passcode, you are going to have to restore the device. Read and follow the instructions in this support document. If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

Thanks for the answer but it is not working. It was left on the table un attended and obviously the screen saver/ lock activated. The phone is locked and now I am unable to use it. I tried to re start it by pressing the two button as advised but it is not giving me the time to slide the restart or SOS display since it lasts about second and not responding. When I press and hold bit longer it gives me an alarm but not allowing me to enter my password or it's not reading the face recognition.

Not exactly sure what you mean by "it locked itself". However, this is the answer to your other question. Pressing the buttons as you describe is how you use the SOS feature, that is why it is dialing. If you wish to reset the iPhone X, use the instructions here, If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
