play/pause while in another application

I used to be able to play/pause iTunes using a key chord Control-Option-Command-Space regardless of the application I was using.

I used some software extension, but I can't remember what it was.

Does anyone have recommendations on what I should use to do this?

It was an EXTREMELY valuable shortcut.
