I would like to type a digit with a bar on top of it. Any solution ?

The underline command is always implemented in any editing software. However, the overline command is never implemented. Is there an easy way to obtain such an overlined character ? The latex command \bar{x} solves the problem. Can such a command be embedded in a text ?

You can use the Character Viewer (Edit > Emoji and Symbols) to find the Unicode combining diacritical mark that fits best and input that after your base character. You may need to try different fonts for good results. Here is 4 plus U+0305: 4̅.

You should use something similar for bar below instead of the underline function, which will likely not be preserved if the text is transformed.

In general it's better to use an equation editor for such things.

One can type the word combining in the Emojis & Symbols panel search window to get a large collection of combining characters. In any rate, type the number, and then double-click one of these characters to get the result. It may not be as accurate as LaTeX which employs automatic kerning.

The \bar{4} LaTeX construct is supported in the Pages v6.3.1 equation editor.
