Unwanted contacts showing in Gmail App.

In my Gmail contact settings I have the option selected which makes sure that contacts are not auto saved. I emailed someone the other day who isn’t in my contacts list and now when I go to write an email beginning with the letter “S” that persons email address is showing up in the contacts list but only in the Gmail app on my iPad Mini 4. When I log in to Gmail via the website, the email address is not in the contacts list or in other. How do I remove this contact? I’ve logged out of the app and logged back in, deleted the app and reinstalled it but neither of these have worked. I wish there was a way to clear the app data and cache but even then I’m not sure this would work. Hope this makes sense and any help is appreciated.
