battery drain podcast app

Iphone 5s with ios 11.1.2. I'll open the Apple podcast app and no matter how much battery charge I have left (say 60%), within a minute suddenly I have a "low battery" warning with 1% left. Unless I plug the phone in my phone will shut off. When I do plug it in immediately within a minute I'll have my 60% battery back. This only happens with the podcast app. Am I alone?
