Photos keeps crashing , some times when i go in the menu on the left is missing or only has basis files , when clicked on nothing there , after shutting down and re starting a few times it comes back , when i transfer pics from my iPhone x it shuts down half way through , when i resume it it duplicates all the pics again . if i have my phone connected to my MacBook air and open photos it never gives all the files down the left hand side . i have no confidence in photos any more , is there a more reliable program/app i can use , I'm frightened I'm going to lose

all my pics one day !!

Run Photos again and try to get it to crash. When it does copy the first 50-100 lines of the report and post in your reply.

Also download and run Etrecheck. Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

be sure to keep a rigid backup scheme. For your iPhone make regular backups with iTunes to save all document and data, and for your Mac you may want to make regular copies of your Photo s library on an external drive, in addition to your Time Machine backups.

My iPhone x is on iOS 11.2.1 and my mac book air is on high sierra 10.13.2

Then you are running the current versions and the systems are compatible.

You can see the crash logs, if you click the "details" button before submitting the report to Apple. The Console.app in Applications > Utilities will also show you the crash logs. Select User Reports in the sidebar of the Console window and search for the most recent Photos crash.

You can use any program you want - but you have a problem with your system - there is nothing wrong with Photos as millions and millions of people use it daily with no problem and as you can see even here which it all about problems there are no other reports like yours and very few reports of crashing at all

If you would like help then rather than threaten try providing details - you provided absolutely nothing to allow anyone to assist you

what version of the OS do you have? Post the first 100 or so lines of the crash report

And the solution to not losing photos is good, tested backups

I did not THREATEN any thing , i mealy asked if there was another program or app i didn't suggest it wouldn't be an apple app !! when i submitted this it asked me what iOS and mac i had i answered so did not know i needed to put it in the text as well. My iPhone x is on iOS 11.2.1 and my mac book air is on high sierra 10.13.2 i kept submitting the crash report to apple so didn't get to copy it .
