I purchased a Sony speaker roughly 2 or so years ago, and it worked fine with connecting to my iPhone 6, but now that I have updated to the iPhone 8 plus, it will not pair. Is it possible the speaker is just too old and wont work with the newer phones? I've tried every imaginable trouble shooting.
WELL... after doing some youtube searching and problem solving.... I found out that when you turn your Sony speaker on, and the pairing light flashes on your speaker, to press and hold it, and the light will blink faster, then have your iPhone in search mode and it found it and they are now paired! Woot Woot!

Unfortunately yes, it is possible.
Contact the manufactorer's support team and check if there's a firmware update for that speaker model.
Then unpair and try to pair again your iPhone to your sound system.
