macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 'Your disk could not be partitioned'

Hello I have just bought a Mac Book Pro 2017 Touch bar and would like to install Windows 10 but every time it try to partition the drive it comes up with the error below. I have tried - Restart-Command S key -/sbin/fsck -fybut with no success.

I have read on various blogs, in order to resolve the issue a time machine back up is required and then to erase the contents of hard drive and reinstall??? I don't see why this should be necessary, as it is a brand new mac book? Please can any one help?

Yep, same here - High Sierra on 2014 MBP (also happens on my brand new iMac). Spent some time this evening speaking with Apple support guys. Really helpful but still need to escalate to engineering. Will post back when I have more info.

Same problems here, did what you said, and terminal said: 'thinned local snapshots: "current date"' - so that seemed to have worked. Couldn't partition my drive though, even after that.

Some users suggested '/sbin/fsck –fy' in single user mode, but that hasn't worked either. Seems that this command doesn't work for a lot of high sierra users. Do you have any more suggestions? Do you know if Apple is aware of these problems?

Try this first, before the TM backup/erase/restore. In macOS Terminal, run

sudo tmutil thinlocalsnapshots / 999999999999

and retry BCA.

I have run the code as per your instructions ( tried it twice) after asking for my password, it returns the error "Unrecognised verb"

Can you confirm that you are running High Sierra?

Can you post the Terminal session? The password is not echoed back to you.

Triple-click on the following line and select it

sudo tmutil thinlocalsnapshots / 999999999999

Copy (Command+C), and Paste (Command+V) in Terminal window.

You can either downgrade to Sierra or use Time Machine to backup/erase/restore and retry BC Assistant on HS. If you are not on HS 10.13.2, upgrade to latest HS patch.

Hello Fella, yes with the space then with without no joy. I posted the images of the terminal output, did they look correct?

You need a space between each of "thinlocalsnapshots", "/" and "9999..." . Your Terminal output does not show that specific command being executed.

Thank you sir! I ran the command, restarted the machine and tried the book camp installation again, hay presto ! It worked! You the man! Thank you once again!
