Pause and wait feature does not work in my iphone SE when I store the number in the contacts

I just got a new SE phone and putting numbers into my Contacts, I use a Pause in some of my numbers. Well it does not work. I checked on line and was talking to an Apple Tech Support and did everything they told me to do, but when you dail the number, the pause does not work. It just dials the numbers before the Pause and that is it.

I tried using the Wait, and that does not work either.

Any one have any ideas?????
