how do you get the spellcheck line on top of keyboard

When typing a message there use to be a box across top of keyboard that spelled what you typed and offered other suggestions it is gone now. How do you get it back

Do you see a short horizontal line at the top of your keyboard? If so tap on that line ad drag it up. That should show the predictive text area.
