Distortion when makin calls on th x phone using the leather case.

Has anyone experinced distortion while using their IPhone X with the new leather case that folds over the phone while making calls?

I was on a call - was very distorted to me and the person I was calling - took the phone out of the case and the phone call was clear? Any suggestions ?
