Depends on the series of Apple Watch you have.


While the Series 1 can take some splashing, its not recommended to to have it in contact with large amounts of water for extended periods of time. As such showering with it is not recommended.


The Series 2 and 3, can take a shower just fine, though soap and other cleaning items pose is an issue as they can adversely affect its water resistance and water seals.

Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 models can be submerged in shallow water, but other models should not be.

Note that Apple specifically advises:


  • Against exposing Apple Watch to soap or soapy water - such as when showering or bathing - or to high velocity water:
  • Against subjecting Apple Watch to dramatic changes in temperature and/or humidity.
  • That Apple Watch should be kept within the recommended ambient temperature ranges.
