My iPhone says that headphones are connected when they aren't. How can I fix this?

My iPhone says the headphones are connected when they aren't, I can't listen to any audio from any of my apps and I can't hear the typing of my keyboard or the click from when I lock my phone. I've tried restarting, rebooting, shutting it off and disconnecting and reconnecting headphones. How can I fix this problem?
