video times on thumbnails

I have High Sierra 10.13.2 and it used to always show how long a video was under the name of the file thumbnail, but will no longer show this. If I transfer a video from one location to another, it will show up and stay showing the time length of the video until I close the file. When I open the file again, the preview of the time is gone and never returns. Is there a way to keep the time showing?
