Deleting photos on iPhone 6 if they have been exported to Mac

I have exported my photos from my iPhone 6 to my Mac. Can I delete them from my phone to free up space and still have access to them in iCloud? I have iCloud set up on my Mac.

iPhone 6, iOS 11.2.1
