Power Cable for Apple TV is 125v. Can I use it in a country using 220v?

4th generation Apple TV which I originally purchased for use in Canada. I upgraded to a 4K a while ago. I brought the previous Apple TV with me to use while spending time in South America - Peru specifically (which like most of world uses 220V. The Apple TV has a variable voltage which conforms to a multiplicity of standards. The cable that came with the Apple TV says 125V on it. I am wary of plugging it in, not wanting to fry the device, start a fire or affect other devices like a television it would ultimately be attached to. It now occurs to me that I know less about electricity than I knew. Please advise.

In theory, any cable can have a voltage limitation, although I find it improbable there would be any safety issues using the subject cable with a 220/240V supply. In actual fact, the IEC standards that cover this type of connector do not require a voltage to be stipulated, so it would seem that the cable you have is certified for N America only (rather odd considering it's international usage claims)

If in doubt the Apple TV uses the very common figure of 8 connector, you should be able to replace the supplied cable from a local source which should not only remove any concerns over usage but remove the need to find an adapter to plug the cable into a non-US mains socket.
