Phone icon is dark. Phone will not respond

I am locked out of my iphone 7. Phone icon is dark. Cannot access phone, shut down or reset

Hi

Try a reboot press the power button down &the side down volume button Hold both down until you see apple logo this can take 30 seconds.

Thank You! Thank You! I had never heard of that form of reset. Waited the 30 seconds. The phone restarted and I'm up and running. Tanks again. And have a very Merry Christmas.
