Why is Apple causing Adobe products to fail?

Why is Apple causing Adobe products to fail? I've been running Adobe Photoshop, inDesign and Illustrator for years with only minor problems. Now, I update to High Sierra and these products don't work! Adobe's response is to stop updating the desktop versions, Thus; forcing the User to have to subscribe (think ongoing fees) to get versions that work. If this is a vendetta on Apple's part, I say it backfired and is making a cash-cow for Adobe.

How is this Apples responsibility? When Apple announce they were makeing computers for Adobe?

Adobe could choose to update their legacy software to run in the newer framework of OS X, and they willingly choose not to.

If you want an Adobe product you can use in High Sierra then Adobe offers Creative Cloud 2017.

Adobe is a company that makes billions in sales, and they can not do that unless you are constantly buying new software from them.

I am not a coder...uh...developer. I am not asking Apple to update Adobe’s products. I would like to know what changes were so important, so crucial that they cause these other products to fail. Alas, I’ll guess I’ll never know. What I do know is that every time one of these companies burp, it cost me money. I reckon I’m frustrated. For example, I use as many of the free, open source apps as I can. An alternatitive to Photoshop is GIMP. After Photoshop, the learning curve for GIMP is steep. Be that as it may, I imported Photoshop PSD files successfully. Much to my dismay, I can NOT edit text files. GIMP community groups claim this is a restriction by Photoshop. All I know is that I will have to renter ALL text once it’s in GIMP. UGH! Sorry, I just had to vent.

You have had a series of good replies.

If Apple wish to make changes to meet their current and future needs, why should they not do so. It is not for us to explain (as if we would know anyway), Apple's reasons.

If Adobe want Apple to continue using their product it is entirely up to Adobe to update their product. Apple will always co-operate where it can.

Adobe chose to stop selling their desktop applications and move to a subscription model several years ago, this will mean the now much older desktop versions do not get updated.

Apple, as they always have, update their operating systems, now quite frequently, every year.

At some point, older unsupported software will become incompatible and will stop working.

It is up to you to check the compatibility of old/unsupported software prior to upgrading the operating system.
