I'm using Macos 10.13.2, and noticed window animations and Launchpad are extremely laggy.
So I want to remove the files
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist and
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver*.plist
But they seem to not exist?
Any ideas anyone?

FWIW, both files exist. To find them.
In "Go to FolderâŠ" from the Finder "Go" menu, first pasteâŠ
/Library/Preferences/
then scroll down the list and remove.
next paste into "Go to Folder"
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
scroll down the list.

Answer found through the support chat: it's normal that these files don't necessarily exist on the machine as "macs are able to connect to windows base server systems".
I don't know what that means but I guess fixing laggy display performance isn't as easy to fix as it used to be...

That's correct.
Strange, I don't have them on my system... Is that weird?
Yes. I have them on at least two different Macs with High Sierra installed. I could check the other two but I don't have time.
Are you running any "cleaning" programs?
I'm using Dr Cleaner once in a while to remove junk but I have restarted my Mac in the mean time so the files should have been recreated by Macos...
Macs do not need "cleaning" programs. You should uninstall it.
Something interesting, I checked all four of my Macs running High Sierra. Three have both files and one has neither. Don't know why.

Well at least you know removing them won't help since they don't exist on your machine.
Well yea.. it used to be easy to fix display issues but now I have no idea what to do to solve the laggy animations and launchpad...
Someone will no doubt be along with some suggestions. I never use Launchpad so I would have no idea if it's laggy or not. I'm not sure which animations you think are laggy.
