can a child be a part of two family groups

divorced parents jointly bought ipod for 9 year old daughter. Each parent has own/separate family group. Child goes between houses. As it stands, it appears the child can only be part of one family group per device, so only one parent has ability to access to settings/controls (and to download any apps or songs) for child's iPod. This is not what we intended - we wanted her to have one device that we could both access equally. She has separate iPads at each house that are separately managed, but the iPod was meant to be portable. Please help - it would seem like there should be a solution for this because I'm sure others have had the same situation. Thanks.

No, you can only be part of one Family Sharing group.

Leave [/Cancel] Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/HT201081 - How to leave a family sharing group. How to cancel it or remove anyone over 13 if you are the organizer.

"After you leave a family, you can join or set up a new one. However you can only switch to a different family group once per year."

I suspect (but we do not know how Apple decides these things) Apple realizes this kind of thing can be an issue. The thing is, they likely also have to prevent abuse of the Family Sharing process and I could see it being hard to distinguish in this scenario vs. others where this could result in excessive sharing.

You can transfer a child to a different family group:

It doesn't say how often you can do this vs. the normal annual limit, and I know this isn't exactly what you want to do.
