Microsoft Word crashes after 10.13.2 update

Microsoft Word crashes when I save a file or send a file to print. This started right after upgrading High Sierra to 10.13.2 . I'm not totally good with complex answers, can someone narrate a little help? This is impossible to work with!

Office 2008 won't work. Office 2011 works most of the time. Only Office 365 is fully compatible with High Sierra. Office 365 comes in two flavors. There is a standalone version for the usual price as in the recent past - $139.00. It will only get updated. But you will have to purchase the next major upgrade. Then there is the subscription version which costs $99/year with free updates and upgrades as long as renew the annual subscription.

There are some free alternatives other than the cheap Apple offerings - Pages, Numbers, and KeyNote. The free alternative I'd recommend you check out is Libre Office. It is about 95% the same as Office 2011 and contains word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing tools. It is compatible.

Microsoft never tested Office for Mac 2011 against High Sierra, and cautions users to only use Office 2016 for Mac v15.35 or later. Microsoft just released v15.41. This does not mean that Office for Mac 2011 won't work with High Sierra, but it may not work properly going forward with future High Sierra updates. As this older Office product is end-of-life, Microsoft won't be issuing any further updates past 14.7.7.

I found it impossible to update Microsoft Word... The error report when I try to print or save a Microsoft Word file (now that I've updated High Sierra to 10.13.2) says the following which I don't understand. Have any idea?

You are using a really old version of Office for Mac 2011, and it has reared its incompatible head.

I would deinstall Office for Mac 2011 per Microsoft instructions, and install/update Office 2016 for Mac for the best forward-looking Office compatibility with High Sierra and beyond.

Otherwise, once deinstalled, download/reinstall Office for Mac 2011 14.7.7 directly from Microsoft, and use your existing license key. Scroll down in that link to the section, "Most current packages for other Mac programs from Microsoft, to find the direct Office 14.7.7 download link.
