Iphone X - Bluetooth earphone issues.

I have three separate sets of bluetooth earphones all which connect normally to the iphone X as they did with my previous 6S+ - but they all suffer from intermittent beeping and pausing - as though the buttons are being interacted with when they are not. Sometimes it is incessant - sometimes every few seconds - sometimes it goes away.

It seems to happen whilst using the pocket casts app (podcasts) - but im having trouble finding any sort of pattern with it. Can somebody tell me if this is likely to be an iphoneX issue or an app issue? Its infuriating.

I have tried a hard reset. but didnt work. Updated to latest IOS. The headphones are from Anker, Taotronics and iFrogz. All effected in the same way.
