Can I add Facetime on an Iphone X bought from Dubai but used in Romania?

Hi guys,

I’ve just bought yesterday my new Iphone X from Dubai (during a visit there). There were no warnings about it not having Facetime. I came back to Romania and realized it does not have and cannot have Facetime on it.

Do I have any options for enabling it since I’m using it in Romania and on a Romanian Carrier? Can’t Apple Support here do anything to enable it themselvs?

I’ve read about a hardware limitation, but I can’t understand why that would be. I’m sure it has to be just software related and there is a way to getting it.

The model number is permanently tied to the IMEI. When you query the Apple server for an update, it sends the one for your specific model. The server doesn't care where in the world you are, only the model you are using.

2. Not unless Pakistan changes its laws to allow FaceTime(Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates already have), and then it would take a future iOS update.

This Iphone has been bought from United Arab Emirates - Dubai which you state have now allowed FaceTime. Any news about when the update will happen? Can’t Apple help me out on this matter already by installing an international software version on this SN/IMEI?

I'm very sad because there is no warning about face time when i bought. I Hope Apple fix this. I still cant believe that Apple cant identify in what country you are and block or release face time.
