if you have a few hours to get some tutorials under you belt then Blender is about as powerful as it gets outside of Maya and C4D without the $3,500.00 price tag.

If you don't want to spend time learning the interface with the on-line support that Blender has all over the net it's not the type of software you can just tool around in and it will "come to you"

Blender is industrial strength. I quit it twice before I actually dove into it head first. It's frustrating because the concepts are so unlike anything else I've ever used but they begin to make sense and the support group is massive. It might be overkill for floor plans but among other features; modeling and rendering being just two of many; it has some serious horse power that competes with the movie studio strength titles.

there are also free rendering engines out there with some amazing potential. My go to at the moment is LuxRender
