Iphone 4s Ear Speaker Not Loud - Solved

I was able to solve my problem today. I took a safety pin and lightly scrapped into the recessed area where the earpiece speaker is located. This cleaned out the dirt and oil from the years of pressing the phone to my ear and the volume is back to normal now. Thanks to the responder who indicated he stuck a pin in his wife's earpiece area and was able to hear fine afterwards. Got me to thinking: maybe the earpiece is just clogged with dirt and oil! It was and I didn't have to actually puncture the tiny membrane with the pin! Hope this works for everyone else!
