app auto-clean function in iOS 11

Hi, recently I updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 11 but it's been a really frustrating experience, especially the app auto-clean function. I'm playing the game Fantasy War Tactics R, and that function forces me to redownload the game 1-2 times/day. It even happens when I just switch to another app in background for just a few mins, iOS force-closes the game and performs whatever cleaning, basically forces me to download the game again. I have around 2GB free space on my device and I don't really think my iPhone would need that auto-clean function at all. Will Apple include a setting to turn this broken function off in the next update?

Honestly this is the most disappointing iOS update ever.

The function can be turned off. Go to Settings>General>iPhone Storage, and "Disable" the "Offload Unused Apps" option, or go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turn it off there.

Sounds like you are very low on memory on your device. You may want to do some cleaning up, and there are recommendations under the first path above that tell you what you can do to save memory.

Nope, it isn't my case as the "Offload Unused Apps" option is disabled by default, and it lets you keep the app data while removing the app itself. In my case, the app (the game) itself is intact but the app data is removed every time the auto-clean function kicks in and so I have to download again and again. And I think Apple set some unknown limit, I don't think my 16GB phone would need to have more than 2GB free space at all.

Thanks for your answer anyway.

I am not sure what you are referring to when you say "auto-clean function". If you are losing data, then it is probably because you don't have enough memory available on your device. Apple software does not "auto-clean" your device and delete data as well as the app. There is no function that would remove an app from your device automatically.

Can you clarify what you are referring to?

Let me give you an example then. I open the game previously mentioned (Fantasy War Tactics R), I play for a bit, then I switch to the Messenger app to chat, after 1-2 mins I return to home screen, the name of the game changes into "Cleaning..." for a short while, then it's back to "Fantasy War Tactics R". I open the game again, it restarts and redownload the whole app data again. All the process is automatic, I do not touch or change any setting. I already check multiple times to make sure my device has more than enough space for the game. And it only happens after I upgrade my device to iOS 11.

You can refer to the reddit here as some people have the same problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyWarTactics/comments/7h3d7f/game_keeps_reupdating _once_in_a_while/
