MacBook Pro won't run Skype anymore

My MacBook Pro (13-inch mid 2012, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB 1600MHz DDR3) won't run Skype since updating to Sierra 10.13.2. I've tried deleting and reinstalling Skype and have carried out all the standard checks, but to no avail. FaceTime doesn't work either. Can anyone help?

Hello there,

I have the same issue!

I have macOS Sierra 10.12.6 and my Skype just stopped working from one day to another, that was a few weeks ago (mid/end of November approximately). I have deleted and re-downloaded Skype multiple times, changed the info.plist as suggested by other members, I have changed the speech options in the system preferences and everything else but nothing helps.

It does not start at all, it only says "No Available Windows" and the menu bar looks like this:

User uploaded file

I am desperate to call my family because it is Christmas today, can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

Hi rikpar44,

I understand that you are unable to use FaceTime or Skype since updating your MacBook Pro. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

I recommend going through the troubleshooting provided for these issues in the following articles:

FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime - Apple Support
Why isn’t Skype for Mac OS X starting? | Skype Support

If these articles do not help, let us know exactly what happens when you try to use either of these apps, and whether or not you see any errors.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
