High sierra upgrade on mac pro with SSD and HDD for storage

Can someone advise me on wether upgrading to high sierra will work on my MacBook pro 2011 with upgraded SSD for the OS but also have a 1tb hard drive (HDD) in a caddy for more storage.

I have read that upgrading to high sierra changes the file system to APFS which only works on SSD's but my MacBook Pro has both an SSD and an HDD.

As my OS is on the SSD and the HDD is only for storage will i be fine or is it worth waiting for a future version of high sierra where this will be compatible?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), 128GB SSD - 8GB RAM

Yes, you can upgrade your MBP 2011 with an SSD to run 10.13 and use the HDD as storage. The file system is localized to the drive it's on, not across the system.
