iMessage read receipts are up to the recipient. If they have enabled them, then yes. If they have disabled them, then no. MMS (and SMS) messages don’t even offer the option of read receipts so will never indicate.

Even for systems like email or iMessage that have the option of read or receive receipts, that option to use them is always in the hands of the recipient, never the sender.
