Magnet in iPad case (not iPad) kills my MacBook Pro

I can confirm that the magnet in the Logitech Hinge case for my iPad Air 2 kills my MacBook Pro. My MacBook Pro will go dark, completely shut down, and become unresponsive if I place my iPad in a particular position next to my MacBook. At first I thought there was some interference occurring between the two devices per the Apple article HT203315, but I can reproduce the above issues just by placing the iPad cover -- without the iPad -- next to my MacBook. Here are some details:

1. I like to use my iPad Air 2 to stream news or sports when I work on my MacBook Pro. This saves screen real estate on MacBook, plus splits the processing between two processors. In my home office, the above issues never occur because I use an external display, and when I place the iPad next to the display both devices are at least a foot away from my MacBook.

2. The above issues occur when I travel in which I place my iPad next to my MacBook. In particular I was putting the iPad to the left of my MacBook -- on the side with the MagSafe connector. I would align the screens of the two devices, and slightly angle the iPad inwards towards me about 30 degrees. That slight angle would put a portion of the Logitech Hinge case -- the portion that serves as the base propping up the iPad -- under the MacBook; in particular, under the back left corner with the MagSafe connector. The portion of the Logitech Hinge case that I was sliding under the MacBook contains the offending magnets. The problems occur only on the left/MagSafe side of the MacBook -- no problems occur if I place the iPad on the other/right side of the MacBook.

3. At first I thought the iPad was the cause of the problem, and I posted here a year ago thinking the problem was related to video/home sharing between the two devices. But in my current trip for the holidays, I've experimented in taking the iPad out of the case, and (a) the iPad by itself does not cause the problem, but (b) the case by itself does.

4. I can even make my MacBook go dark and light up again by moving the iPad case out from under the the MacBook. However if I leave the iPad cover under the MacBook longer than a few seconds, the MacBook will shut down completely, and become unresponsive to even a restart. When I first called Applecare about this last year, we had to leave my MacBook unplugged for up to 30 minutues before it would restart again. Contrary to the Apple article HT203315, my MacBook was not just going to sleep -- or even just shutting down -- it became completely unresponsive.
