Suddenly Pages documents which printed correctly horizontal are now vertical and I cannot correct!!!

I cannot get Pages documents to print horizontally - which in past has worked perfectly.

Now they are all incorrect (cut-off) printing in vertical/portrait mode and I cannot correct the errors!

Help, please.

Just a quick note.

You probably know already but Portrait and Landscape are not necessarily Tall and Wide in that order. Portrait means it goes straight into the printer, Landscape means it is rotated 90°. If you have a wide page in Page setup that is already horizontal and does not need to be rotated for landscape. Given the way paper is feed into most printers it is best to make custom pages tall and then rotate them for wide in the dialog. There is something wrong with Apple's implementation of this in Pages which seems to break with every macOS update.

Another issue that can cause problems in some printers is "Binding Margin". That is a selection that is designed to ensure duplexed printing is rotated so the binding edge whether the top or the side aligns when the 2nd page is printed.

I'd have to see what the options are in your Printer Driver, but people do overlook what is in the Printer Options under the App button/menu in the Printer dialogue, which I think is poor design on Apple's part. Not an obvious place to look for it.

Yes Pages 6.3.1, two HP LaserJet printers (CP1525nw & M203dw),

(driver HP PostScript Driver 19.22 for the latter & HP LaserJet CP1525nw 2.0 for the former) and High Sierra 10.13.2.

I was having zero trouble with all until this afternoon, so have not considered dl of "new" drivers.

I was unaware what info was needed for reply.

I have been trying to use usual sites/button-choices to try to figure if some selection had got changed, but was not successful.

HP used to have spyware checking what your ink and paper usage was, but I can't recall they ever let you know when there were Printer Driver updates.

I don't think there was a suddenly anything here. I think you just upgraded to High Sierra.

Possibly we could walk through the settings for landscape and portrait printing, but we are running out of time before Christmas.

Happy Christmas to you as well, 🙂

I have owned both printers > a year without difficult.

I upgraded to High Sierra about a month ago.

I have had no printer problems until yesterday.

I upgraded to the new drivers yesterday after appearance of the trouble;

only other issue has been intermittent very slow loading of url's in Safari 11.0.2.

I am at a loss how to correct this printing issue (and I use horizontal mode a lot!)

If you have the time to walk me through landscape/portrait settings, I would be very appreciative.

(Holidays are not an issue for me, just being satirical.)

I am not yet sure but it appears the problem is confined to Pages 6.3.1 which is installed on this MBPro computer but not on a MacBookAir I use for much composing of horizontal documents but 5.6.2 on the MBAir which prints normally on the (wireless) linked HP LaserJet CP1525nw (a color laser device and is also not using High Sierra but Yosemite because of serious problems with the dictation program [Dragon Dictate for Mac by Nuance] I use interfacing with Mac versions of MacOS);

I now see that the template for printing on the 2 different computers and different versions of MacOS and Pages is utterly different! I inadvertently went to Pages 6.3.1 on MBP with High Sierra a few (?) days ago and I have not familiarized myself with this new version at all! And it is when I transfer a Pages document from MBA to MBP that the printer thing occurs! I'll work on that this weekend and come back with reply about what happens!

I hope those last 2 paragraphs make some sense in spite of my hideous composition!

Thank you again.

Yes, my "problem" was something to do with the layout with Pages 6.3.1 on the MBPro.

I can't document exactly but it had something to do with the Default Settings and

I managed to get them changed to a (normal) Default.

And I no longer have a trouble!

I don't remember how or why I installed the latest Pages version, but I did and had not yet dealt with the changes!

-- another of my senior moments, which are becoming more frequent.

Thank you again for your guidance!

THANK YOU! I'd have never figured this out. Yes, I downloaded & successfully installed new drivers on both printers.

HP never notified me (that I can determine) that new drivers had been released.

[I am having some problem determining if one or both printers have been "registered";

I use HP products (paper, toner, etc.) exclusively via internet purchases.]

However, in spite of this successful upgrade of drivers on both printers, printing "half the page" vertically/portrait instead of "whole page" horizontal/landscape as written/composed -- has NOT been solved -- yet.

I can try tomorrow to reach Support at HP [Merry Holiday].
