You don't physically connect it to a cable box, it is simply hooked up to a TV via HDMI cable. There are then apps that you can use in conjunction with your cable service (if supported)

Navigate to the right input. Meaning that if you are connected to HDMI 1 on your TV then you need to use your remote to select HDMI 1 and switch to that input. If you are still unsure then refer to your TV's manual on how to change inputs.
Also, is the Apple TV connected to power? Are you seeing the white light on the Apple TV box?
For example, if you use the CBS app there will be a provider login. If you see Spectrum listed then you will authenticate using your cable subscription and be able to fully access the content within the app.
So you're connecting Apple TV to your HDTV via HDMI correct? What are you seeing on your TV screen? Are you making sure to navigate to the right input using your TV's remote?
Thanks for the reply. Spectrum is the cable company. Please tell me more about the apps. When i hook the apple tv up to the tv. i do not see the apple tv on the tv screen.
Yes, I am connecting Apple TV to my HDTV via HDMI. I am not seeing anything on my TV screen.
