Live photos don't transfer to computer through "photos"

I need to free up space on my phone. Most of my photos are live. I plugged my phone in, opened "photos" on my mac, imported everythign I wanted, then dragged it into a folder on my hard drive.

All of the live photos were made into regular jpegs. When I send them back to my phone or try to view them on my computer, they are flat jpegs.

How do I transfer live photos to my computer to make sure everything is saved?

Thank you

iMac

A live photos has two pieces - a still photo and a short video and must be processed and viewed with Photos on a Mac or an IOS device to work - when you move it to disk or edit it with other software you no longer have a live photo - to keep it as a live photo keep it in the Apple enviorment

And I don't have the option to get the broken down file you have above.

Again you select the live photo in the Photos application and export (file menu ==> export) the unmodified original - the three files are exported to a location you specify so you find them b using the finder and going to the location you export them to
