iPhone 6s Plus, invalid serial number, can it be a fake phone?

I just bought a brand new iPhone 6s Plus from a local phone shop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia 2 weeks ago. I just checked the coverage from Apple care page and learned that the serial number is invalid. But it was working as normal since I bought it. I want to know if it was a fake iPhone?

If you're sure that the serial number you input is ok (check here: Find the serial number or IMEI on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support)

then contact the shop where you bought it and explain your problem / doubt.

Hi

If iPhone Is working & it works with your apple I'd Then it is NOT a fake iPhone.
