Windows 10 and unable to view DCIM folders

What to do if you go to file explorer/windows explorer and you are able to see your iphone listed, but you click on the icon and then the internal storage icon, but it says there are no folders available. Usually this happens after Windows 10 does a major update and the problem is that your iphone no longer recognize/trust your pc and the pc doesn't recognize your phone. To resolve this issue simply uplug your iphone from the usb port and

  • Go to Settings > General > Reset.
  • Tap on "Reset Location & Privacy"

Then plug your iphone back up and then you should get a pop up message asking if you want to "Trust this computer". Say yes. If itunes opens automatically when you plug in your pc you may get a message within itunes asking if your pc should recognize this device. I can't remember the exact verbiage. Say yes.

After this you should now be able to see your DCIM folders within files/windows explorer that contains your photos/videos.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.1
