SAPGUI Configuration

The new SAPGUI 7.00rev1 runs fine on my MacBook, but I can't figure out how to make a new connection file. So right now it's pretty useless.

I run the SAP logon pad 6.4 under Parallels, so I have a saplogon.ini file that contains everything I need. But I can't figure out how to translate that information into the SAPGUI configuration files from scratch using that information.

Does anyone have "connections" and "settings" files they could share? Or a resource that would help create one? The Help files are not enough.

Problem solved. In the end, the fix was very simple.

I was able to construct the proper connection string in the "Advanced" pane for editing connections, choosing "use expert configuration". The key things that took a while to figure out were that I had to use a hard IP address instead of a name (which apparently wasn't getting resolved by the GUI) and I had to put the server ID as the last two digits of the "service" 3200 code, 3252 in my case.

The server name for the server and service I wanted was listed under [Server] in the saplogon.ini file. I used Network Utility to trace the route and get the IP of that server. The ID (52 for me) was listed under both [MSSysName] and [database], against the same item number corresponding to the server and service I wanted.

conn=/H/IP/S/3252 where "IP" is the hard IP determined as noted above

conn=/H/IP/S/3252&user=XXXX&pass=YYYY&lang=EN where XXXX and YYYY are the username and password will log you directly in - sweet!

Once I had this one configuration working, it was easy to edit the Mac SAPGUI connections preference file to add other servers and services.

BTW, the SAPGUI on the MacBook is fine and faster than the SAP Logon running under Parallels. And no filthy Windows on my Mac!
