Photos on camera roll not showing up

Hello! After moving to iphone x (ios 11.2.1) i have disappeared around 13 000 photos. I had proper backup, etc, but i can open just around 50 newest. For all of the others it just shows blank picture as if it is there, but i can not open.

Someone got similar problem and knows how to solve it?

Restarting the phone is not working

Hi jolantale,

I understand that you have switched to a new iPhone X, but now most of your photos aren't present and instead it just shows a blank thumbnail. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

I recommend checking out the advice provided for this in the following articles:

About missing information after you restore your iOS device with iCloud Backup - Apple Support

About your photos

When you use iCloud Photo Library, your photos and videos automatically upload to iCloud. They aren’t included in your nightly backup. After you restore your device from iCloud Backup, stay connected to Wi-Fi so that your photos and videos can begin to download.

If you haven’t turned on iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Backup may include photos and videos in your Photo Library or Camera Roll. Not sure if iCloud Photo Library was turned on when you made the backup? After you restore your device, check Settings > [your name] >iCloud > Photos. If iCloud Photo Library is turned on, then the photos were stored in iCloud Photo Library.

If the photos and videos were included in the backup, they’ll download to your iOS device in the background when you restore. Stay connected to Wi-Fi until the process finishes. The time it takes to restore depends on the size of your backup and the speed of your Wi-Fi network.

If the restore process takes a long time to finish

Stay connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network and a functional power source until the process finishes. The time it takes to restore from a backup depends on the size of your backup and the speed of your Wi-Fi network.
