Firevault fails to activate

After a fresh install of High Sierra, activating Firevault gives the error: "The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -25300 - Failed finding service FDE)", see the attached screenshot. The message appears after selecting "Allow my iCloud account to unlock my disk" and proceeding by clicking on "Continue".

Details:

Model: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

OS version: 10.13.2 (macOS High Sierra)

Anyone has an idea how to active Firevault? Thanks in advance.

Will it encrypt if you don't allow your iCloud account to unlock your disk?

Yes, it does. I have to note that setting up my iCloud gave an unknown error while setting up my macOS High Sierra. Eventually, my iCloud account did work. I just had to skip that step and it somehow had logged in and connected.
