How to remove black bars at top and bottom of videos in camera

Hi There,

Have my first Apple device ipad pro which is 12.9" 2nd gen 2017 and I have touched something I think in the camera app accidently and when I make a video, there is a thick black bar at top and bottom of screen. Could it be that I have touched panorama view ??? I see the bars when I play the video back. Also is there somewhere, where I can look that will explain what all the icons on the right hand side do and how to use the camera fully. I have the wifi only version and it is ios 11.2.1 installed which of course has had 2 updates since purchasing in October.

Do you still have this problem??

If so Double tap the camera while in video.

I have a iPad Pro 10.5 and I had the same problem it's fixed now 🙂

You’re welcome. You’re probably recording in high def, which tends to be wide screen, which will put the black bars on the top and bottom.

Many thanks Skydiver119 you are a life saver. Have not read it all yet but hope it tells me how to remove those annoying thick black bars. I was in camera when I noticed them and I had been touching things in there so hope that's where the problem is. What a great tutorial that is. Will keep you posted.

Nope not that either but at least you have taught me how to use that part of it. You know what, a 1 inch wide vertical rectangle came on the camera screen and I had to turn the ipad on its side to read it and I saw this large arrow and some words and one of them said panorama and I seem to think I have put it accidently in that mode not knowing what I was doing.

Oh, lucky you. Do I have to start recording first before hitting camera or what procedure is there in more detail as to exactly what I do. There are lots of teething problems for me worse luck. 😢😢😢
