how to store airdrop music files in iTunes

I am trying to airdrop music from my iTunes into my daughter's new iPad mini. When it downloads onto her iPad it doesn't store into iTunes (music). The only options it gives us to download it are: iMovie, iTunes U, and files. None of those options are, obviously, iTunes music, but it doesn't give us that options. How do we get her iPad to download the music directly into her iTunes library?

You don't.

When AirDropping, the Music App is not a location you can save dropped files to.

If you need to get music into the Music App on the iPad, you do so by either buying it from the iTunes Store app, or syncing the music from a computer.

Good morning thomasfromred lion,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are wanting to add music from your iTunes library to your daughter's new iPad mini. The only way to do this "locally" is to connect your daughter's iPad to your computer and sync music to it. If your daughter does not have her own user account on your computer, this would be the way to do it.
Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB
Another option is Apple Music. With an iTunes Family Sharing account and an Apple Music Family Membership, you and your family would have access to your iTunes library plus the entire Apple Music catalog for a monthly subscription fee.

Set up Family Sharing

Family Sharing makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases, an Apple Music family membership, and an iCloud storage plan, without sharing accounts. When the family organizer turns on purchase sharing, you can pay for family purchases with the same credit card and approve kids’ spending right from a parent’s device. Family Sharing also lets you share photos, a family calendar, and more to help keep everyone connected.

Family Sharing and Apple ID for your child
Get an Apple Music Family subscription

Each member of an Apple Music Family subscription gets unlimited access to the entire Apple Music catalog, music recommendations tailored to their personal music tastes, and access to their own iCloud Music Library, which makes it possible for them to listen to their music on all of their favorite devices.
After you set up Family Sharing, you can invite additional family members to join your family group.

After the invitees accept your invitation, each member of your family group will have access to Apple Music.
If you already subscribe to Apple Music, you can change to a Family Membership in the Music app or in iTunes on a computer. Learn how to manage your Apple Music subscription on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC, or on an Android phone.

Happy Holidays!
