I have been trying to figure out how to remove glare or shiny areas on a profile picture I'd like to use for professional websites. Is there a way to do this without paying for photoshop? I have a MacBook pro retina and an iPhone 7.

The retouch tool in Photos can do what you want. Take this shinny cheek for example:
If animation doesn't start automatically click on image to see annimated version.

Thanks. I tried that but it looks even worse when I use this. It makes the picture look obviously altered. That's why I'm having a hard time!
