Safari a search engine on IPAD Air 2

I understand that safari is a web browser and that web browsers are also search engines. For safety purposes I would like to use safari and not google as my search engine but do not have that option under safari>search engine. I have google, yahoo, bing, DuckDuckGo(which I've never heard of). Am I thinking incorrectly as to safari as a search engine?? If not how do I get back to Safari on my iPad? Thank you for any assistance or information

This is because google, DuckDuckGo etc are search engines. Safari is a web browser NOT a search engine so you can search on it and all your information will be held there but the results will be searched on google, shown by google and found by google. Safari is just a platform on which you can search from not get the results from.
