how to update my ipad with iOS 5.1 to iOS11

I have a new used ipad with iOS 5.1.1 and need to update to iOS 11. How do i do it the ipad is saying it has the lates software.

If it has iOS 5.1.1 and says that it has the latest, it is likely a 1st generation iPad. It cannot be updated beyond 5.1.1.

Yup.

You purchased a new, 1st gen, 2010 iPad.

That iPad cannot be upgraded past iOS 5.1.1.
