How to fix 169.254 IP address

My iPhone was working fine but all of the sudden it doesn’t allow me to access the internet.The WiFi is on with but it says that it cannot access due to the proxy server not responding I tried restarting network,reboot and shutting down PLEASE HELP the IP address now has 169.254 and I’m pretty sure that is a bad number

A) is this an iPhone problem? I only ask, because your question is in the macOS Lion forum.

B) If this is an iPhone, and you do not normally use a Proxy server, you should most likely go to Settings -> Wi-Fi -> the WiFi network you are connected to -> ℹ -> Forget This Network, then re-establish your WiFi connection.

C) If this is a Mac, then, and you do not normally use a Proxy server, try System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> Proxies, and turn off the Proxy settings.

Oh, yea 169.254.*.* indicates your local DHCP server did not give you are IP address. If this is your home router, you might also try power cycling your home router.
