In Firefox, Google Maps goes black.

I'm on a Mac Pro, running High Sierra, and when I try to use Google maps, or download a PDF file, the map shows up briefly, then the map goes black, leaving the map interface and widgets, or the PDF shows up black onscreen and it can't be saved under "save page as". Any solutions or workarounds will be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. It didn't happen in Safari, but I kept having the problem in Firefox, so I went to the Firefox support site, and there it was. It's an incompatibility between High Sierra, Firefox, and the resident GPU. But they had a fix for it, and it works. The fix involves changing some Firefox Preference settings. Obviously, if I had gone there first, rather than here, I would have found out how to fix it, but not been able to tip off anybody else. So I'm glad I came here. Here is the procedure:
