can grey compound clips be changed to blue color?

I understand that a grey compound clip means it has mixed footage. Is there any way to change the grey compound clip color to blue? I tried to do so by going to the Roles menu and creating a "Master" role with blue as my color of choice, but the "Master" compound clip stays grey. Yet all the videos I see on youtube regarding compound clips always show them as being blue.
