ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Apple Mac Pro was listed on Amazon. Will this work on my MAC Pro Early 2009 OS is 10.11.6 El Capitan

I suspect my graphics card is going bad in my Mac Pro Early 2009. Amazon list the card as such:ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Apple Mac Pro was listed on Amazon.

What is meant by : Upgrade Kit?

Will this work on my MAC Pro Early 2009 OS is 10.11.6 El Capitan

Do I have to worry about power constraints...overloading ,etc?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

The early 2009 MacPro base model came with the NVIDIA GeForce GT120 graphics card: the ATI Radeon HD4870 was available as an optional upgrade. I bought my Early 2009 MacPro as a refurb - and it came with the Radeon 4870 fitted.

It's never given me any trouble, works well. If the Amazon item is a genuine Mac card, rather than a flashed generic PC card, all should be well. Just a matter of shutting down, opening the case and swapping cards.

When swapping or adding cards, a PRAM reset (macOS Sierra: Reset your computer’s NVRAM or PRAM)never hurts.
